Experiences Matter, Experience More Life

Experiences Matter and Couples Experience

I’ve always known I had a strong innate desire to experience more, to be more, and to explore more. I somehow knew my happiness and health depended on it. I didn’t need a long-running Harvard research study to remind me and convince me that joy is important to my well-being. I didn’t need this article by Travel + Leisure either, discussing the rich and their shift in wanting luxury experiences over luxurious tangible items. More people are discovering experiences matter more over things, and in turn, when you experience more you are experiencing more in life.

As a young girl, and an only child, most of my experiences entailed me entertaining myself or playing with my mom, but the experience of doing that catered to my independence in a way I so appreciate now.

I can clearly recall, the many times I embraced my friends and they too embraced me, whether it be during class, at their homes while we watched TV or played video games, or even as we delighted our taste buds at an ice cream shop. These experiences added to my happiness, they offered insight into how my happiness should look and how happiness makes you feel. The simplest of moments have always made me happy, joyful, and connected; I’m sure you too may feel the same.

I look back and think sheesh, those times when I would play Jacks on the linoleum floor, or take hours to put together a 1000 piece puzzle, or the times I would sit cross-legged on my bedroom floor listening to my boombox and writing in my journal imagining my life on paper was me opening the Experience More door – the explorative soul door.

I think we all have an explorative soul, but life slowly picks at it causing us to question our natural explorative nature. I think we all have a child-like spirit peering through our adult life asking for us to allow it to make an appearance. Adult life has a tendency to cause confusion too, as we consider the number, quality of people, and the purpose of those people around us. The point is though…

I believe experiences are what make us reflect. Experiences are memories, but they are also results impressed in our minds based on those experiences and memories. Just think of all the experiences that have made you the person you are today. As adults, we have many decisions to make, but one very important decision is to determine who we would like to be in the future. The only way to become your best is to experience anew. To envelop yourself in the best of all that the world has to offer, and to do so you just have to choose, and be grateful for the ability to choose. I know for sure that being an adult is real, and not always easy.  With the struggles of our adult lives constantly appearing, we as adults need to find our release. We need more planned experiences. We need more opportunities to be in the present. We need more ‘put your device down’ time and more ‘let’s talk to experience more’ time. We need more reminders of the good times. We need to be able to see that yes, all those tireless hours spent working to earn the big bucks are worth it (sometimes), but to remember those loving moments spent with the ones we love is what always matter most. The money earned is only a tool, and that tool needs to be used by us to share in opportunities that build a life of more experience!

My Experience More life has shifted from those putting puzzles together, playing Jacks, and journal days to now traveling with the love of my life (my husband), family, and real friends. The scheduled dinners, long chats on the phone with those I love and like, TV time for Real Housewives of Potomac (guilty pleasure), and most importantly the best times to brainstorm ideas in which I can conjure up plans, events and retreats for others to do the same is what fills my downtime.

This is what Couples Experience and the Experience More lifestyle is. It is where the conversations take place. It is where the experience of exploring new places, new trends, new norms, and great growth takes place. It is where your child-like spirit comes out and shares a good laugh, a good game night, good food and drink, and a way to reflect years later on the best that has occurred with friends and strangers alike. This is who I am, and this is who we (myself and Logan) believe we all are. We are individuals desiring the life we want. We are individuals seeking the best connections to get us to the next level. We are individuals that see the best in another, and they too see the best in us. We are individuals of all ages and backgrounds with a story to share.

So get in on the Experience More lifestyle, and hop on that bandwagon of living your best life because, I know you’ve heard it before – this life…this experience…is just too damn short not to enjoy it!

You can experience more even through living simply on a daily basis. You can also experience more opportunities and indulge in new things when you travel outside your comfort zone.
